Notes on William and Mae Ayres Shevlin Family

William Shevlin ["Bill"] was born in Kingston, New York and baptized at St. Mary's Church in Rondout.

An orphan at age 7, he was raised in Brooklyn by his sisters Mary Ellen [Molly], Julia, and Idella.  Around 1899 Idella married widower Chauncey Ayres and they moved to Tallman, New York.  

By his first wife, Chauncey had a daughter named Mae who was the same age as Bill.  She and Bill became romantically involved and were married on or about April 12, 1903.  They lived their entire adult lives on Cherry Lane in Tallman, New York and raised five children to adulthood.

He died in 1960 and she in 1964.  They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Tallman, New York.

  William Edward Married Judi Spendelow.  Three children.  Died 1998.
  Carol Jean Married Richard Rizzo.  Four children.  
  Robert John Married Mary Jane Aldeguer.  Two children.  
  Linda Anne Married Donald  Dieckhoff.  Three children.  
Edward Priscilla Gough Lived in Tallman and Sherburne, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina.
  Susan Married James Selby.  Two children.
  Wanye. Married Linda.  No chidlren.
Mae William Sullivan Lived in Orange and Brick, New Jersey.  No children.
